If you missed the concert @ Meijer Branch last night you missed out on an AWESOME show! All 3 groups - Austin Brown, Innocence is a Still Life & Safe or Brave - played original & cover songs and everyone had a great time!!! We also had some trivia questions & gave away prizes for the audience. The coffee that was donated by the Jackson Coffee Co. earned some comments from the crowd like, "WOW, this coffee is awesome!" &  "You got this from the Jackson Coffee Co.? That's the BEST in town!".

The June meeting of the Jane Austen Book Club was great fun as we discussed the varied world of "fan-fiction", published and non-published. Thousands of books have been written about the characters first introduced by Jane - some wonderful, some not so great.  Our three graduating Seniors were congratulated and each presented with a Jane Austen Action Figure to take off to college with them.  Strawberries and cream, chicken salad on mini-croissants, scones with lemon curd, and a lovely Fontina cheese tempted our palates along with several pots of tea.

I just finished reading

       Prepare to step back in time. Back to the days when a privateer could sail the ocean blue without ever leaving the Hollywood studios. Back to the days when people enjoyed watching actors pretend the rapier went straight to their gut, when really they are hiding it under their arm. Back to the days when a pillager could become as upright and desirable as the town mayor. Ah, yes, those were the days. He grabs and kisses her, she bites him, he knocks her flat, but by the end of the movie she will defend him in the face of any danger or indignity.
