The Choice by Nicholas Sparks:
From the book jacket: (Book-on-CD edition)
“…a tale about love found and lost, and the decisions we hope we’ll never have to make. Travis Parker has everything a man could want: a good job, loyal friends, even a waterfront home in small-town North Carolina. In full pursuit of the good life – boating, swimming, and regular barbecues with his close buddies-he holds the vague conviction that a serious relationship with a woman would only cramp his style. That is until Gabby Holland moves in next door. …”
What I liked about this book; Romance is not my favorite genre but I do like Nicholas Sparks, he has a nice, gentle, easy, relaxing, style and this is a typical Sparks’s book. It reminded me, in some ways of the Notebook.
There was a bit of a surprise ending: I was listening to it on tape and thought I was at the end of the book, I anticipated that it would end a certain way, but the tape kept playing the ending was different than I had thought.
What I didn’t like: Parts of the story were very predictable, the love found, love lost part. Although it was comfortable, I don’t think that it was totally realistic.
All in all a good read- I would give it 3 stars.
