I did a very unscientific survey and asked a few of the Library employees what is your favorite Holiday Movie. One staff person started telling me about several of them her family liked to watch on TV, but couldn't remember the names.

Here are some of their answers:

National Lampoon' Christmas Vacation

How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

A Christmas Story

Miracle on 34th Street

Christmas Comes to Willow Creek (a made for TV Movie 1987)

Prancer  (1989)

Fav. Christmas Movie!

I love love LOVE A Christmas Story! I love that it plays for 24 hours on TNT every single year!!

I also love Home Alone! The first one... Lost in New York is OK but the original is the best!!

National Lampoons Christmas Vacation is awesome too!

There are prob'ly more but I am doing this super fast!

Holiday films

One of the best "newer" films is Love Actually with Hugh Grant, Alan Rickman, Emma Thompson, etc. It's very funny, a little sad, and sweet and quirkly in that way that British films are. Characters and plots weave in and out and finally everyone comes together at the- mostly- satisfying end. Bill Nighy as the old rocker rerecording his only hit as a Christmas song is a hoot! (Oh- some nudity and adult topics.)

Holiday Movies

My absolute favorite is "The Bishop's Wife" with Cary Grant and Loretta Young and David Niven.  It was redone as "The Preacher's Wife" with Denzel Washington and Whitney Houston, which was almost as good...

I used to love a Christmas

I used to love a Christmas story before the marathons started a few years ago, national lampoons is always a classic and home alone was good too. I just got some really unique mothers day gifts for my mom she should be pretty surprised
