Jackson District Library has collected multiple copies of selected titles for use by book discussion groups. The books are available as “kits” and are packaged in a tote bag. A kit contains twelve copies of the same book, one Large Print copy, one audiobook, a notebook with information about the author, and sample discussion questions. If you have a valid Jackson District Library card and belong to a book discussion group, you are invited to check out our selection of Book Discussion Kits.
Book discussion kit procedures:
Books in each kit check out for six weeks. They may be renewed for an additional three weeks provided they haven’t already been requested by another book group.
Kits are checked out to a JDL card holding book discussion group representative. No more than one kit at a time can be checked out by an individual.
All members of the group need to have valid library cards or have someone else in the group willing to take responsibility for their books. The group representatives are responsible for recording member’s names and library card numbers so that books in the kits may be directly checked out to group members.
Book group representatives are responsible for examining the contents of the book kit before checking it out and also before returning it.
Book discussion kits must be reserved at least one week in advance. They may be reserved up to three months in advance. Call the Jackson District Library’s Reference Department at 788-4087 x234 to reserve a kit.
Book discussion kits should be returned to the Carnegie Branch, if possible. If this is not possible, they can be returned to any JDL branch.
Please do not return the kits in the drop box. Replacement cost for the entire kit is $150.
We hope you enjoy the book group discussion kits. If you have any questions, feel free to call the Reference Department at 788-4087 x234.
