So I throw out to you- Who was your Harry Potter.?

I'll start:   The Bobbsey Twins Series, The Five Little Peppers and How They Grew, Little Women, Little Men and Jo's Boys by Louisa May Alcott. Biographies and Historical Fiction, I seem to remember a series like I Was There.. on the Oregon Trail, or the I was there ... the California Gold Rush. Actually almost anything I could get my hands on.

I didn't discover Charlottes Web, or The Little House books until I was much older.

So Who was your Harry Potter?

Who was your Harry Potter?

Nancy Drew of course!  I always loved a mystery.  Still do.  I also enjoyed any non-fiction about people who over came adversity such as Hellen Keller.

Nancy Drew

Nancy Drew was my Harry Potter. Sometimes I would read 2 or 3 per day, especially in the summer.

That's funny!

My mom used to have to make me return things so others could check them out too.  So far, I haven't had that issue with my own kids because if I think we are going to encounter a situation like that, once we can't renew an item any more, I will probably buy it for them.  That's a major advantage of having a book addict for a mom I guess!  LOL

This is a hard one

I loved the Black Stallion series and Black Beauty, C.S. Lewis and there was an encyclopedia on Dogs at my local Library that I would check out all the time.  Sometime my mother would make me give it back for a couple of weeks so other people could check it out.  But my absolute favorite book when I was really little was Frederick by Leo Lionni.  I still love him.

My absolute favorites were

My absolute favorites were the Dark is Rising series by Susan Cooper and the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis.

When I was little I played

When I was little I played sports & swam like crazy... but when I did read I usually read, "Nate the Great", "Sweet Valley Twins", "American Girls".... and that's just the series I can remember off the top of my head. I remember reading every single scary book I could get my hands on too!

my harry potter

Alec Ramsey of the Black Stallion series by Walter Farley was my Harry  Potter.  Also anything by Farley, (Island Stallion, etc) and Marguerite Henry.  Then Dick Francis when I hit my teens - obviously there was a theme - I'm still crazy about horses!

I liked playing outside more

I liked playing outside more than I did reading but when I did read, it was Amelia Bedelia books. She shares a simular common sence as Paris Hilton.

Mickey Rocks!
