JDL'S Board of Trustees is seeking community support to sustain library operations at all 13 branches of the district library system. The library system's financial outlook is very grim. We can no longer afford to continue to operate our current system of 13 branches with existing resources. We are seeking an additional 2/5 mill (0.40 mill) to sustain library operations at all our 13 branch locations, to continue to maintain our aging facilities, and meet the growing demand for library services throughout the county. This additional millage will be levied for the next 9 years, starting in 2008 and ending in 2016.

For the purpose of supporting the continued operation at the Jackson District Library, shall the limitation upon taxes that may be assessed within the library service area in one (1) year be authorized at 0.40 mills ($0.40 on each $1,000 of taxable value on all real and tangible personal property) for a period of 9 years beginning 2008 though 2016, inclusive, to provide funds for operating purposes?
